Herb Selection

As you settle into a regular practice with Tea Lady Ceremonies, you may feel drawn to explore your herbal selections more intentionally. One beautiful way to do this is by aligning the energetics of your herbs with the quality you are cultivating in ceremony.

Floral herbs

Such as rose, chamomile, and lavender invite softness, calm, and emotional ease. They pair beautifully with ceremonies that cultivate peace, compassion, and acceptance.

Grounding roots

Like turmeric, ginger, licorice, and ashwagandha all bring warmth, stability, and strength. These are wonderful companions for rituals of courage, resilience, and grounded presence. Moringa, too, belongs to this earthy family, offering nourishment and balance.

Light, uplifting herbs

Like peppermint, spearmint, and rosemary awaken the senses and clear the mind. They’re perfect for moments of renewal, inspiration, joy and bringing clarity.

Adaptogenic all-rounders

Such as Tulsi (Holy Basil), a gentle yet powerful herb that meets you where you are. Tulsi harmonises easily with many herbs, enhancing clarity, calm, or vitality depending on its companions.

There are no strict rules here, only gentle invitations. Let your intuition and your body’s wisdom guide you. Over time, you’ll begin to sense which herbs call to you, which blend feels right for the moment, and how each cup can become a reflection of your inner landscape. While these suggestions are offered in the spirit of wellbeing and reflection, they are not medical advice. If you have a health condition or are taking medication, please seek guidance from your qualified healthcare practitioner to ensure the herbs you choose are appropriate for you.

Acknowledgement of Country

Tea Lady Ceremonies emerged on Bunjalung Land, in the NSW Northern Rivers.

It is my privilege to live, work and raise my family here, to swim in the cool salty ocean that laps against this soil, to frolic with my family in fresh watering holes, to walk barefoot through the forest at the edge of my garden.

This land, belonging to the Arakwal, Minjungbal and Widjabal People, was never ceded. I recognise and celebrate the ongoing connection between land, sky, water and community and the beauty and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. .

I pay my deepest respects to the Traditional Custodians of this land; past, present and emerging.
