A Way to Be with Your Tea

Calling all Tea Lovers…

How many of you have a grab-and-go relationship with your daily cup of tea?

I do too…Well, at least I did.

You know the moment: You pause just long enough to put the kettle on, make that cuppa, and dash straight back to whatever was waiting. Only to find that, quite possibly, your tea goes cold before you drink it !

I’ve done this countless times.

But somewhere along the way, I noticed something. Something small… yet quietly important.

There was an opportunity hidden in those in-between moments. Right there, in the space where tea-making happens.

That pause in between things opened up into a gentle threshold.

And in that space, I discovered something unexpected, a subtle power in slowing down…a quiet potency in truly being with my tea.

What began as a fleeting pause, slowly and very naturally evolved…

Into what are now Tea Lady Ceremonies.

Simple, recorded tea rituals for daily life; designed for any moment, in any place, and for anyone willing to pause.

When I began sharing these tea rituals, I found myself describing them in the plainest way, that I was offering a simple guidance:

A way to be with your tea.

Not something elaborate. Not something you need to get “right.” Just… a way.

So I invite you to try.

Pause. With your tea. Even for a few minutes. Every day.

Sit in stillness with your beloved brew in hand. Turn your attention inward, to your breath,to the warmth of your cup, to the quiet presence of the moment.

Without rushing.. Or needing to be elsewhere.

And then notice…

What happens for you when you truly be with your tea?

Truthfully, I still have a grab-and-go relationship with many of my cups of tea

As a herbalist, I drink several cups of herbal tea each day. I don’t pause to fully be with all of them.

But I do try to pause for one. At a moment that allows me to step away, even briefly.

To sit. To breathe. To be with my tea.

And to draw from that small but powerful pause before stepping back into my day feeling renewed, restored, and a little more equipped to meet whatever lies ahead.

If you feel drawn to explore this more deeply, I’ve created a series of guided Tea Ceremonies; gentle, immersive practices to support you in cultivating presence, clarity, and care through your beloved cup of tea.

You can explore them in your own time, in your own space, one cup at a time.

And of course…I am so curious to hear your tea stories.

Please share them, because I know there will be many.

Tea Lady Ceremonies emerged on Bunjalung Land, in the NSW Northern Rivers.

It is my privilege to live, work and raise my family here, to swim in the cool salty ocean that laps against this soil, to frolic with my family in fresh watering holes, to walk barefoot through the forest at the edge of my garden.

This land, belonging to the Arakwal, Minjungbal and Widjabal People, was never ceded. I recognise and celebrate the ongoing connection between land, sky, water and community and the beauty and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. .

I pay my deepest respects to the Traditional Custodians of this land; past, present and emerging.
