Just Breathe: Tea Rituals for Returning Home

Two years ago, I hosted fifteen tea ceremonies over three days; five each day, with up to twenty people gathered at a time. It was a beautiful weekend, bringing together people from many walks of life, united by a shared yearning for stillness and a collective love of a warm, comforting mug of tea.
I don’t remember everyone’s names, or even all their faces. But I will never forget something one man said to me at the end of one of these guided tea ceremonies.
“Thank you,” he said. “It’s been a long time since I thought about my breath.”
Those words stayed with me.
How often do we pause to notice the very thing that sustains us? How often do we give our breath even a moment of attention?
The guided tea rituals of Tea Lady Ceremonies exist for moments like these, to gently bring us home, back to the basics, through the simplicity of a quiet cup of tea and a small pocket of time set aside.
The Tea Break Series is a collection of short, at-home tea ceremonies created for everyday life. Each one offers a steady place to pause when days feel full, fast, or uncertain, whether you’re sitting with the Presence ritual, or returning to Groundedness when you need to feel your feet on the earth again.
These simple, repeatable pauses, held through tea and accompanied by breathing that needs no fixing or forcing, can quietly shape the way we move through our days.
Perhaps they also serve as a gentle reminder of something easily forgotten:
Just breathe.
If the power of a simple pause speaks to you, you’re welcome to subscribe to Tea Lady Ceremonies and explore the Tea Break Series in your own time.
