The Little Things: At Home Tea Rituals & other Daily Wellness Practices

It is often said that our Wellness consists of The Little Things; the small acts of nourishment repeated daily or regularly that add up over time; the 6am cold shower, the wholefood diet, the exercise routine. You know, things we swear by that leave us clearer, feeling more energised and stronger.

The wellness rituals that fit real life!

I love to start the day with my dog. Just after dawn, we take a beach walk together. Then we go home and he has breakfast while I make tea.

On busy days I’ll sit with my tea for as little as 15minutes. It’s long enough to arrive, short enough to return to regularly, and my day flows better as a result.

When the evening comes, I love to end it quietly, with a cup of sleepy time tea, a few slow deep breaths. Children tucked into bed, maybe the ocean breeze is blowing through the window (Summer), or the lights are low & the fire is burning (Winter). I read quietly, return gratefully to peaceful stillness.

These are some of my Little Things. How about you? What are The Little Things that you do regularly to nourish you and support your wellbeing?

Acknowledgement of Country

Tea Lady Ceremonies emerged on Bunjalung Land, in the NSW Northern Rivers.

It is my privilege to live, work and raise my family here, to swim in the cool salty ocean that laps against this soil, to frolic with my family in fresh watering holes, to walk barefoot through the forest at the edge of my garden.

This land, belonging to the Arakwal, Minjungbal and Widjabal People, was never ceded. I recognise and celebrate the ongoing connection between land, sky, water and community and the beauty and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. .

I pay my deepest respects to the Traditional Custodians of this land; past, present and emerging.
